World Physiotherapy Day with Walk- A-Thon

College of Physiotherapy organized the event

Ludhiana: 11th September 2022: (Health and Fitness Screen Bureau)::

Today the College of Physiotherapy under the banner of Christian Medical College organized the event of World Physiotherapy Day in the form of a Walk- A-Thon. 

The Aim as to why this year College of Physiotherapy held a walk-A-thon was to interact and to portray the services provided here at College of Physiotherapy and to make an initiative towards the growth of Physiotherapy. 

Present was our worthy Director Sir, Dr. William Bhatti, Principal Sir, Dr. Sandeep Singh and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Allen Joseph. 

The event began at Christian Dental College with the Flag Off Ceremony done by our Director Sir. 

The gathering then made its way to Shahidi Park, Kidwai Nagar where the students socialized with the society and localities present. 

They talked about physiotherapy along with this years theme, to show emphasis on Osteoarthritis: A Global Problem and how physiotherapy can help to improve joint movement and aid in strengthening of muscles. 

And students raised awareness about various age related problems, especially for geriatrics and young teens, postural and other generalized conditions the common population might suffer from. Sunday 11th September 2022 at 

The students performed a skit for the gathering and later had one on one interactions with the community present at large. 

Our Director Sir, Dr. William Bhatti, acknowledged the students and talked about the role of physiotherapy in our life and emphasized on the importance of physical therapy. 

Our Medical Superintendent, Dr. Allen Joseph, motivated young physiotherapists present and congratulated the students on organizing and hosting the event. 

Our Principal Sir, Dr. Sandeep Singh thanked the staff, faculty and our COP family, along with all our gracious sponsors and well wishers for attending and celebrating World Physiotherapy Day in such a grand manner.

‘World Physiotherapy Day’//Importance of being physically active

8th September is observed as ‘World Physiotherapy Day’. Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy  at  DMCH provides a comprehensive range of Physiotherapy services and is well equipped with all modern facilities including unweighing system, laser therapy ,cryo unit and  combination therapy., says Dr Avkash Teotia (Incharge, Physiotherapy Deptt. DMCH).

According to Dr Alka Kaul, Chief Physiotherapist, role of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation has increased manifold in present times due to long sedentary hours and bad postural style. Besides middle aged and old patients, there are many young patients and even adolescents who come for physiotherapy treatment due to pain related issues. It is also seen that many youngsters, who start going to gymnasium, also suffer gym injury when they overdo exercise over there. DMCH Cancer Care Centre has a specialized Physiotherapy Department, which has all the required machines needed for physiotherapy and rehabilitation of cancer affected patients or recovering from disease .       

Dr Shweta Mahajan says Physical therapy deals with patients of various age groups. It also aims at correction of posture and movement disorders to improve the physique and quality of life. Physiotherapists who work in primary healthcare facilities will likely play a part in the management of patients admitted to hospital with confirmed or suspected COVID-19.

Physical health forms a major part of our life. Being physically active, maintaining nutritional balance, good rest and sound sleep are a few components of physical health. Giving importance to physical health will reap benefits at all ages of your life. Good physical health can contribute to leading a successful life.
