Dr Rishi Pal Singh, Registrar, said that the wellness gym, comprising all the latest exercise machines, has been established with the monetary support of the State government, who were extending all-possible help to PAU to cater to the academic and sports requirements of the youths.

Is bodybuilding possible without taking supplements?

A Point of View on The Role of Supplements

Ludhiana: 10th June 2024: (K K Singh//Health & Fitness Screen Desk)::

Staying awake till midnight and lack of discipline in eating habits has badly ruined the health of the youth. The youth, frightened by this, think that going to the gym is the only way out. In this way, going to the gym has become a fashion nowadays. The people who go to the gym do not even realize when supplements enter their lives.

It is worth mentioning that many gym operators (not all) themselves run the business of selling supplements along with running a gym. Generally, they say that supplements prove to be a very good alternative as pure food is not available these days. To a large extent, what they say about food and diet is also correct.

Neither milk is available in pure form, nor vegetables, nor grains, nor many other things. News of chemicals in desi ghee has also started coming.

But is the use of supplements free from dangers? In the last few years, many such cases have come to light when many young people's kidneys got damaged or some other serious problem arose.

Supporters of supplements say that if the precautions required in the use of supplements are not taken, then such problems can arise.

So why is it necessary to take supplements? Can bodybuilding not be done without them?

Who used to eat supplements in the olden days?

Well, you are still there today. Successful bodybuilding is possible even without taking supplements. Many people can build a good body without any supplements. For this, proper diet, regular exercise, and adequate rest are required. With time, lifestyle changes also become necessary. Here are some important points that can help in bodybuilding without supplements:

First comes the right nutrition. Only after this, the rest are possible. There are many things that are important when it comes to proper nutrition.

Protein is very important among these. Protein is necessary for building muscles. You can consume eggs, chicken, fish, pulses, beans, and dairy products to get protein.

Similarly, carbohydrates are also important. They provide energy which is needed for workouts. You can get carbohydrates from whole grains, rice, potatoes, and fruits.

Fats are also important for the body. Healthy fats are also essential. You can get healthy fats from nuts, seeds, avocados, and olive oil.

Vitamins and minerals are also important. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables so that your body can get all the necessary vitamins and minerals.

Importance of Regular exercise:

Strength training is essential for muscle growth. This includes compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench press, and rowing.

Also do cardiovascular exercises so that your heart remains healthy and your stamina increases.

Rest and recovery:

Get proper sleep. Sleep is very important for muscle recovery and growth.

Give proper rest after workouts so that your muscles can recover and grow properly.

Hydration:

Drink enough water. Water is essential for all the processes of your body, especially when you do heavy workouts.

Timeliness and discipline:

Maintain regularity and discipline. Progress is gradual, so be patient and work hard.

Bodybuilding does not require supplements, but they may be convenient for some people. If you take proper nutrition and exercise regularly, you can build a good body even without supplements.

Dental Health World: 13th March 2024: (DoD USA army//Health and Fitness Desk)

Dental Duty is a major duty even in USA army. this picture was taken when a sailor shares healthy dental habit tips with students at the Child Development Center at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla., Feb. 29, 2024.

This photo is very simple but indicates the importance and priority of dental care. Serving Smiles: The Crucial Role of Dental Duty in the U.S. Army. Photo was clicked by Deidre Smith, Navy on 29th February 2024.

Here talking about this photo we also want to discuss the dental care and dental duty in USA and USA army. In the realm of military service, the commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of personnel extends far beyond the battlefield. Within the intricate framework of the United States Army, every facet of care is meticulously orchestrated to ensure readiness, resilience, and strength. At the forefront of this mission stands a vital yet often overlooked component: dental duty.

Dental health is not merely a matter of comfort or aesthetics; it is intrinsically linked to the overall readiness and effectiveness of the armed forces. Recognizing this critical connection, the U.S. Army places great emphasis on maintaining optimal oral health among its ranks, deploying dedicated dental professionals to fulfill this imperative task.

The role of dental duty within the U.S. Army transcends the traditional boundaries of dentistry. Beyond routine check-ups and treatments, dental professionals are entrusted with the responsibility of enhancing troop readiness by preventing oral diseases, addressing dental emergencies, and providing comprehensive care in austere environments, both at home and abroad.

In times of deployment, access to quality dental care becomes even more pivotal. Whether stationed on the frontlines or serving in remote regions, soldiers must contend with the rigors of combat while ensuring their oral health remains intact. Dental teams deployed alongside combat units play a crucial role in mitigating the impact of dental issues, preserving the fighting force's operational effectiveness.

Moreover, dental readiness is paramount not only for individual soldiers but also for the collective strength of military units. Poor dental health can compromise unit cohesion, morale, and combat readiness, making it imperative for dental professionals to uphold the highest standards of care, regardless of the operational environment.

The significance of dental duty extends beyond the confines of military bases and combat zones. As ambassadors of oral health, military dentists and dental assistants engage in community outreach initiatives, providing dental care to service members, veterans, and their families. Through these efforts, they reinforce the Army's commitment to promoting wellness and resilience beyond the barracks.

In conclusion, dental duty occupies a pivotal position within the tapestry of U.S. Army healthcare. By safeguarding the oral health of service members, dental professionals contribute to the overall readiness, resilience, and effectiveness of the nation's armed forces.

Their unwavering dedication ensures that soldiers can face the challenges of duty with confidence, knowing that their smiles are in capable hands.

Mission gets enthusiastic response at Chandigarh Carnival 2023

Chandigarh
: 26th November 2023: (Kartika Kalyani Singh//Health and Fitness Screen)::

ROTTO PGIMER’s Infotainment Campaign on Organ Donation “ Be the Change, Be an Organ Donor ” struck a chord with visitors and gets enthusiastic response at Chandigarh Administration’s prestigious mega event  Chandigarh Carnival 2023 .

The campaign geared up to generate awareness about the noble cause of organ donation and thereby save precious lives, otherwise being lost due to shortage of transplantable organs, concluded on a good note with over 1200 reached out directly and counselled about the cause through the three day event at Leisure Valley, Sector 10, on Sunday.

“At least this way, we will be able to save some lives, which will never be possible otherwise.” This was the common sentiment expressed by the visitors at the stall as they were scanning QR code on their mobiles to pledge for organ donation and happily posing for pictures with their donor certificates on the mobile phones.

Through the campaign, ROTTO PGIMER ensured that there is rich mix of fun filled activities like street play, slogan writing, graffiti and signature campaign, quiz competition along with some live music and impromptu dancing, peppered with information so as to engage with maximum number of visitors and make them aware about the cause of Organ Donation subtly by making it perceived as a ‘normal thing’.”

A huge crowd was seen at ROTTO PGIMER’s stall every time the artists from Utsav Kala Manch presented street play on the theme of organ donation, with the background score of dafli adding more zeal to the performance. It was all the more fun as every performance of the play ended with some singing and dancing with even onlookers joining to the foot tapping music.

Lauding Chandigarh Administration for their whole-hearted support to the cause and pleased with the success of the initiative for the fourth year successively, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Nodal Officer, ROTTO PGIMER stated “Every year, the response has been better than the previous year. But this year, we have seen a striking difference. Most of the people who pledged for organ donation already knew about the concept either through media or through some awareness programme. In fact, they were looking for an opportunity to express their wish, which they rightly got at ROTTO PGIMER’s stall.”

“Awareness generation is a first step towards that attitudinal change. So tapping the opportunities like this one helps connecting with the community and talk about this serious subject of organ donation like any other routine conversation, thereby, demystifying many myths about the cause,” reiterated Prof. Koushal.

Gastrointestinal Emergencies : Translating Evidence into Practice

Chandigarh: 30th September, 2023: (Kartika Singh/Punjab Screen) :

Prof Usha Dutta, HOD Gastroenterology, PGIMER & Organizing chairperson for this conference

The Department of Gastroenterology, PGIMER, will be conducting a single theme conference on Gastrointestinal Emergencies between 30th Sep and 2nd October, 2023. This national-level workshop will be attended by faculty and delegates from all over India. The workshop will focus on appropriate and evidence-based management of emergencies related to gastrointestinal and liver diseases.

Gastrointestinal emergencies are an important cause for morbidity and mortality globally. It has been shown that goal-directed management in the golden early hours of presentation can potentially improve clinical outcomes. Gastrointestinal emergencies include those related to gastrointestinal bleeding, acute pancreatitis, complicated gallbladder disease, complication of liver failure (bleeding, infection, hepatic encephalopathy). Apart from these, the management of patient admitted to intensive care unit will also be in focus. There are sessions such as intestinal obstruction, inability to swallow, severe manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease and foreign body ingestion dedicated to emergencies related to GI tract. Most GI meetings tend to focus on a specific disease and the care of emergencies is often ignored in such meetings. The 7th edition of this program affirms the ongoing interest of the department in reducing the knowledge gap between first contact doctors who manage patients in emergency and experts.

Dr Usha Datta, Head, deptt  of Gastroenterology along with other faculty members

The chairperson for this conference is Prof Usha Dutta and the chief scientific advisor for this conference is Prof Rakesh Kochhar, the co-organizing secretaries are Dr Anupam Kumar Singh and Dr Vaneet Jearth.  The faculty for this conference includes senior gastroenterologists from across the country who are experts in management of gastroenterological emergencies including Prof DN Reddy, Prof SK Sarin, Dr Mahesh Goenka, Prof Anoop Saraya, Prof Pramod Garg, Dr Ajay Kumar, Prof Sandeep Nijhawan among others. The delegates will be gastroenterologists, trainee gastroenterologists and physicians from across the country.

There will be a hands-on session on Sep 30, 2023, at Zakir Hall, in which training on various models and practical clinical situations will be imparted to residents. This session is being led by Dr Jayanta Samanta and Dr Harshal Mandavdhare. There will also be special session on advance endoscopy procedures by experts from other institutes.

Patients with gastrointestinal emergencies are often very sick, need standardized timely approach to improve outcomes. The meet will focus on providing a platform to enable knowledge transfer from experts to residents and trainees, who are often the first contact physician for patients with gastroenterological emergencies.  Rapid advances in this field necessitates that doctors keep themselves abreast with the latest available evidence in the field. The meet will seek to equip the delegates with the current knowledge and proficiency in procedures, which will hopefully translate into better patient outcomes for these conditions. The present meet will also provide an opportunity to update the existing knowledge with recent recommendations and advice provided by the participating experts.
